You're saying that because you have 5+ daily awards with the K98 sniper, but don't get the ribbon? I believe that contrarily to what the Ribbons and Ranks page says, the sharpshooter ribbon goes to the Allied sniper, not the Axis one.
All that work for naught.

What is this game about? I don't know. What's that got to do with "cheap stat gathering tactics"? Are you saying that stacking teams and playing with a shovel only are good ways to play as long as they're not done with the purpose of gaining stat points? I'd say it's about capping all the flags, so as to make your team win rounds, and that will involve shooting.
You can camp near a flag and go grab it every time it's taken by the enemy, it doesn't necessarily moves your team closer to winning. e.g. on Lennon you can spend your time hanging near the mid flag (easier to do for Allies) and go get it whenever it changes owner. Is that helping your team to win? Not a whole lot; you need the two-man objectives, which are much harder to get. Are you still "capping objectives", well yes you are, lots of.
As for the fun part, everyone has their own idea of what is fun.
